STEPS (System for Training and Enabling People to Succeed) The STEPS Alternative Education Program is designed to serve students in grades 9 through 12 who have been identified as At Risk either because they have been unsuccessful in regular school settings or have dropped our of school. Prospective students must be living in the Ada City School district or have attended Ada City Schools. All qualified candidates are considered. Students study under curriculum guidelines similar to those of the regular high school. They receive the benefits of group and individual counseling, individualized learning strategies, low pupil/teacher ratios and school to work training. The Ada Alternative Academy has been touted as a model example for other school districts implementing the alternative school concept. A great many students have earned a degree from AHS through the STEPS Program enhancing their opportunity to become a functional member of society.
