The Liticker Letter

After the last few weeks...

January/February 2026

Hopefully everyone navigated the snow and ice that January brought in a safe and cautious way.  We understand the challenges closing school or moving to distance learning can bring to families and we seek to keep in person learning in place as much as possible.  However, if we believe the roads and travel are or will become too treacherous to be on, we must make the difficult decision to close our campuses for everyone’s safety.  With a limited number of snow days available, we have tried to blend traditional snow days with distance virtual options.  In the state of Oklahoma, schools are required to attend school a minimum number of days/hours and we will always remain in compliance with those requirements.  Please know our students' academic learning is the most important thing to us as educators.  As our students return to the classroom, our teachers and site leaders are working diligently to ensure there is no break in their learning of the essential skills and concepts required to master their grade level or content area.  Our teachers meet regularly to review the essential learning our students need, to share the best practices and teaching strategies to ensure it happens, and to assess their learning to validate those results. When needed, teachers actively employ learning interventions to remedy any learning loss or provide extra assistance to students who need just a little more in order to master the skill.  This is an ongoing process that continually repeats itself throughout the school year.  Winter has arrived and unfortunately, it has the ability to interrupt our time with students in the classroom.  However, it will not interrupt our focus on student achievement and ensuring we get the most out of each and everyone of our students!  Working with students always reminds us that it is a good day to be an educator!  We have over 2700 Cougars who are preparing for a bright future.  We don’t take that task lightly!  Go Cougs!
